Beer is Best at the Ashes

Marston’s Brewery are the official brewery of the England Cricket Team and Tom Lenahan, despite his self confessed pessimism, is looking forward to a successful Ashes series against the Aussies this year.

Being a cricket fan himself Tom is no stranger to the cricket grounds and he is definitely a fan of Trent Bridge, “It’s great to be so central in the City with so much going on around the ground.”

Tom goes on to say, “There’s a great atmosphere, it’s one of the smaller grounds at international level but it makes a noise above that!”

Marston’s are proud of their long standing support to the England Cricket Team but Tom is also keen to point out that they do a lot for grass roots cricket both in terms of supply and sponsorship.

Marston’s are working with the Times on a Social Media Competition to get the fans to tweet their favourite “sledge”, within the bounds of good taste of course! Just hashtag your tweet with #pedigreebanter and #rise of course!

Five Over Update: Action Everywhere

EngCele

This last five overs has produced everything. Smith became the first batsmen to reach a half century in the game before a touch of class from Anderson removed him. Two more wickets followed, one for Swann and another for Anderson as England got themselves back on the front foot. If that wasn’t enough, new batsmen Mitchell Starc is dropped by Swann at slip.

England On A Roll

Swann-bowled

Haddin is the next to fall as Swann produces the perfect off-spinners delivery. It pitches outside off turns to beat the inside edge and hits the top of the off stump. England are marching this game forward and will want to get back out there and utilise the better batting conditions. Australia’s bowling hero, Peter Siddle, is the new man and we will have to see if he can rescue his team with the bat.

At #TrentBridge, at the #ashes!!! Incredible atmosphere

@XCricket1999

#RISE England definitely on top after yesterdays success, AUS need a to imply some stability into their chase.

My boy Hughesy will be very happy theres no Freddy Flintoff this time round. #TheAshes #englandvsaustralia #england #trentbridge

Ideal scenario today would be bowl them out for under 200, bat for a day and a half and use the last few days to knock em over #theashes

Nottingham is looking awesome #TheAshes #worldsbestcity

England Get The Breakthrough

Anderson-Smith

England’s go to man, Jimmy Anderson, removes the half centurion Smith for 53. He chases a wider one and edges the ball through to keeper Prior. Australia have now lost half their wickets for just 108 runs and have their backs against the wall. Haddin the new man in.

Batting Getting Easier

Smith4

Steve Smith brings up the first individual fifty of the match with a sweetly-timed cover drive for four. What would the odds have been on him getting to that milestone first before the match. Batting looking much easier this morning, will England rue not getting more wickets last night?
