Brilliant catch from Alastair Cook. Peter Siddle falls for 11 and it is another wicket for Jimmy Anderson. Australia are 231-9 #Ashes

Great things happen to great men. What a catch. Alastair Cook can be the greatest England captain, ever ever ever.

@gjmann

There is no better fast bowler in the world currently than Jimmy Anderson.

Comment: Edging Towards Defeat

The stage is set.

The stage is set.

Australia’s Peter Siddle is the latest victim to fall in the battle of the first Test of the Ashes series 2013 to another wonderful bowl by the irrepressible Jimmy Anderson. Having taken all three wickets today he has arguably single handedly torn the final few members of an Aussie team, on the ever quickening demise, to shreds.

Also take a bow Alastair Cook for a sublime catch to see Siddle away. How much longer is left in this encapsulating game of cricket? It would seem not even long enough for the tea and scones of the privileged ladies and gentlemen of the Radcliffe Road suites to be enjoyed comfortably.

Day Five Live: Reaction To Agar Wicket

I know how the English felt when we had McGrath at the peak of his power.. Jimmy Anderson has been tormenting us for some time now

You just felt that #Agar and #Haddin needed to stay put till lunch and get runs req’d down to 80-odd for Australia to have a chance! #Ashes

@venkateshhwar

That celebration of Jimmy Anderson after taking Agar’s wicket says it all. Be proud kid! #Ashes

I can see this ending not very well for Australia… #TheAshes #Ashes

Ashes Live: Day Five – WICKET!

Anderson2

Siddle goes, and who else but Jimmy Anderson. Combining once more with Captain Cook, who takes a stunning diving catch at first slip a ball after dropping one far more routine. His exceptional performance this match has yielded nine wickets, and this latest one has been one of his best. Will the Australians see out the session?

Says William Roberts, aged 11 from Welton in Lincolnshire.  He has got the autographs of several England players. It’s the first time that he and his dad, Clive, have come to an Ashes test.  Clive told us “Yesterday was a great day, especially the session after tea.”  He went on to praise the staff and volunteers at Trent Bridge for making this a great occasion “Its a really good homely atmosphere.  The players have been great as well in the way they have reacted to the fans”.  Son William agrees, and will treasure his memories and his autographed bat.

Well, this makes things interesting. Mitchell Starc’s time at the crease was limited to one run, before a sizzler edged straight to Cook once more. Anderson really has been brilliant this match.

Since the wicket, Peter Siddle has come in and made his way to 10, as England unleashSwann once more. Australia have two wickets left and require 86 runs.
