Day Four Live: Australia Consolidate

Smith

An appeal for an LBW by Finn doesn’t get anywhere much like the Mexican Wave which a section of the crowd is trying, and failing, to start. Finn bowling much better and finds the due of Smith which doesn’t as the bounce of the pitch continues to be variable. Australia are on to 148-3, almost half way to their target and with 18 overs remaining in the day, they will be hoping to take a good chunk of runs off that target once more.

Steve Smith a great player to have in this situation. Will happily play his shots, a breezy 30+ could be very handy for Australia. #Ashes

Motivating England To Win

Brian3

Trent Bridge is playing host today to the biggest gathering of Mr. Motivators that Nottingham has ever seen.  Lads from Reading, Leeds and Sunderland  are gathering at today’s Ashes match to cheer England on.  As one of them told Brian Fairchild “We do this every year at different Test match grounds. This year we choose Trent Bridge.  I’ve never been here, but we’ve got brilliant seats, and I’m really impressed with the ground.  We’re hoping to see lots of Australian wickets this afternoon”.  With the support of so many Mr. Motivators, how can England fail?

Ashes Podcast: Mrs Agar

When young bowler Ashton Agar was presented his cap by Glenn McGrath ahead of the test here at Trent Bridge, the resounding question around many was ‘Who?’.

The 19-year-old then made quite the statement, sending records tumbling after scoring 98 from number 11.

Trent Bridge united in supporting the young man on his final shot, which was caught by Swann, and he received a rousing reception, leaving the field two shy of a century and an instant hero.

There will have been no prouder individual in the ground than Sonia Agar, his mum.

Day Four Live: Anderson Strikes for England

Anderson-Wicket

Rogers’ innings has come to and end as he chips Anderson to Bell at midwicket. Australia still need 187 to win and they have first-innings half-centurion Steve Smith coming to the crease with the score on 124-3. The crowd are right behind England and in particular James Anderson as the atmosphere and tension continues to rise.

Ashes Podcast: David Hussey

David Hussey has a reputation around these parts, and Nottinghamshire’s favourite Australian is sure to have some divisive opinions on the matters in hand here at Trent Bridge this week. Find out what he has to say for himself:
