That’s the advice from Councillor John Allin, the Chairman of Nottinghamshire County Council when visiting the Test Match today.

“The county has so much to offer visitors,” he told us. “There is Sherwood forest, the Robin Hood festival, Rufford Park, Wollaton Park (where the latest Batman movie was filmed) and Nottingham Castle. Anyone visiting the area should try  to get to one of these.”

He added “Hosting the Ashes here means so much for the local economy.  All the local restaurants, bars and hotels are full.  I’m enjoying my day here at the cricket, and I hope all our visitors are as well”.

Day Three Live: Controversy Finds Agar Again

Bell-Day-3

A day after his swashbuckling 98, in which he looked to have been stumped for 6, controversy found youngster Ashton Agar again. This time it was when he was bowling as Broad seemed to edge to slip only not to be given out. The tourists were furious but the English fans loved it and the lead is now up to 244. Broad remains on 40 whilst Bell has made his way to 85.

What’s it like in the Boxes?

We bumped into someone who has one of the finest views of the cricket and it’s air conditioned meaning only one thing, they’re in a box. The boxes on Radcliffe Road are usually reserved for corporate businessmen and are treated to a amazing view exactly behind the bowlers arm.

steward1In their high visibility gear dotted around Trent Bridge, it’s the job of the safety steward to help keep things moving smoothly for spectators throughout the day.

It’s also a great way of getting feedback from fans and getting to know their impressions of the Ground.

Steve Rippey’s been a steward at Trent Bridge for many years as well as doing a similar job just across the river at nearby Nottingham Forest Football Club. ”It’s a very different atmosphere at the cricket compared with the football” says Steve. “The banter’s a bit more friendly and of course the weather’s better!”

Chatting to fans is all part of the job and Steve has met quite a few fans from Australia over the past couple of days.

“They really seem to love Trent Bridge” says Steve. “They like the atmosphere and some have been surprised how close they are to the action compared to many grounds back home”.
