Ten Overs In Reply…

tredwell

New Zealand have enjoyed a positive opening ten in this second innings, punishing wayward bowling with boundaries across the ground. England’s attack of Broad and Finn only yielded one wicket from their combined nine overs, that of Ronchi, whose attempt at a big hit found only the hands of Trott. However, things looked up for the hosts when Tredwell clean bowled Guptill for 38. 70-2, with 218 more needed.

Close Of Play: England Set Competitive Target

Buttler

A brilliant 48th over from Buttler goes for 22 moved England on to 245-5 and from there they advance past 250 to set a good total. McClenaghan was the pick of the New Zealand bowlers with 3-54 but his last over goes for 20 as both Morgan and Buttler go after him. England add another 13 runs in the last over but Morgan falls for 49 in an attempt for a quick single. Buttler continues hitting though and ends with 47 off just 17 balls. England finish with 287-6.
