The Record Breakers

Many records fell when they were batting and the Hughes/Agar partnership has reignited the crowd. Taking Australia from 117-9 to 280 all out has tilted the game the visitors way and this afternoon’s cricket will have a lot to live up to in order to be as memorable as the opening session.

Ashes Podcast: England Fans’ Perspective

The fans are in high spirits after some impressive bowling from Stuart Broad and the surprising turn of events for Australia during Ashton Agar’s batting. Chanting could still be heard while spectators stopped for a bite to eat and share their opinions of the series so far.

It’s not just ticket holders enjoying themselves either as policemen and women embrace the welcoming change of pace of the cricket grounds from their regular duties on the beat.

Agar Is Gone!

Agar7

Just two short of his century Agar holes out off Broad to Swann in the deep. Incredible stuff and it all means that Australia have a lead of 65 run. Agar does get to take with him the record of the highest score by a number 11 in test history. A brilliant stand of 163 comes to an end with Hughes at the other end on 81. The drama begins again in 10 minutes where England will look to use the best batting conditions of the test so far.

Anderson Key Man For England

James Anderson was the star early on and he is now the leading wicket-taker at Trent Bridge in Test Matches. His ability to swing the balls both ways had the Aussie batsmen in all sorts of trouble early in the morning before Agar and Hughes got back on top.

Stowford Press Cider Are Looking For The Perfect Catch

Stowford

Stowford Press Cider are in food court behind the William Clarke Stand all this weekend to tempt cricket fans into apple bobbing for a year’s supply of Stowford Press Cider. It’s not exactly apple bobbing but is never the less it’s a challenging test of speed, wits and reactions.

The goal is simply, step inside a giant inflatable apple and try to grab as many foam balls as possible.

Day Two Live: More Milestones

cO

Considering runs have come at a premium so far this match, this final wicket stand is looking ever more impressive. Agar is playing like a man possessed and raking in the plaudits after punishing a succession of loose deliveries.

Alongside him Hughes has also made his half century, before Stuart Broad is used for the first time in the innings. The result? a four to the off side that just escapes the clutches of a diving fielder.

Australia have the lead, and the crowd are responding…
