Cllr Sybil Fielding: Trent Bridge is iconic
Nottinghamshire County Council Chair Sybil Fielding has been down to Trent Bridge today to soak up the atmostphere of the 4th test. She told us just how important International cricket is to the people of Nottinghamshire. Listen below.
There must be something in the tea bags
As one of the main sponsors of both cricketing charity Chance to Shine and this Investec Ashes series Yorkshire Tea are a company at the forefront of English cricket fans’ minds.
There must be something special in the teabags as currently the 3 Yorkshire batsman in England’s top 5 are a collective 119-1 and counting in reply to Australia’s 60 all out.
Add in a little help from skipper Alistair Cook (43) and career test best figures of 9.3-5-15-8 for local lad Stuart Broad in the morning session and it’s turning into a very good day for England, hunting the win that will seal the victory in this years’ Ashes series.
Joe Root has passed 50 in this evening session and he and Bairstow share a partnership currently standing at 77. Stay posted to see how England get on in this evening session on Day 1.
Entertainment besides the cricket
The first day’s entertainers include various musical groups, a singer and a harmonica player, as well as Nuts the Squirrel. The day started at the station with Nuts welcoming the masses alongside a Samba band and a group of Indian drummers.
Moving to the stadium there was a Dhol band at lunch, as well as the other entertainers. Another group keeping the masses entertained between sessions at Trent Bridge all week are a group of Victorian Street actors with various pieces of Ashes-related theatre around the ground.
