Can’t explain what it’s like to be at Trent Bridge, the Ashes are far better than I ever imagined!

Ashes Day One Live: Opening Ceremony

The only way to see in a huge summer event is, without a doubt, an opening ceremony and while Danny Boyle hasn’t been sighted inside an NG postcode, we have had a flypast from the Red Arrows, fireworks and a belting rendition of the national anthems. Six overs in and England have made 18 without loss. Both batsmen have 8 runs apiece, and Joe Root has played his first scoring shots in an Ashes Test.

The innings started with a Pattinson bouncer which was ironically cheered as the umpire declared a wide.

Despite finding the ball finding the boundary three times, a perfectly executed drive from Cook punched for two was the pick of the shots.

Ashes Day 1 Live: Wildcard entry for the Aussies?

mcgrathYesterday afternoon, visiting captain MIchael Clarke kept his XI under wraps, choosing to wait until the toss to reveal his side. However, one cat looks to have been let out of the bag early, with 19-year-old Ashton Agar being gifted his cap by Aussie legend Glenn McGrath (left). Full line-ups when we get them.
