In their high visibility gear dotted around Trent Bridge, it’s the job of the safety steward to help keep things moving smoothly for spectators throughout the day.
It’s also a great way of getting feedback from fans and getting to know their impressions of the Ground.
Steve Rippey’s been a steward at Trent Bridge for many years as well as doing a similar job just across the river at nearby Nottingham Forest Football Club. ”It’s a very different atmosphere at the cricket compared with the football” says Steve. “The banter’s a bit more friendly and of course the weather’s better!”
Chatting to fans is all part of the job and Steve has met quite a few fans from Australia over the past couple of days.
“They really seem to love Trent Bridge” says Steve. “They like the atmosphere and some have been surprised how close they are to the action compared to many grounds back home”.
